Stephen Cobb, MD

Executive Coach

An experienced physician executive, Stephen Cobb has a long history of driving measurable transformation for healthcare organizations. For over two decades, Cobb has earned a reputation as a masterful crisis and turnaround expert, showing up best when things are worst: pandemics, disasters, accreditation or PR crises, and high-stakes clinical risks. His leadership performance has also earned him wide industry recognition, from top industry awards to repeated features in mainstream media.

Cobb’s career trajectory includes progressive leadership roles where he grew business volume, clinical practices, and KPI scores by as much as 500%, multiple times. In doing so, he’s also developed new clinical programs, restored troubled programs, and mentored hundreds of medical students, residents, and physician leaders.

Most recently, Cobb served as vice president and physician executive at Centura Health, where he led the pandemic response, drove group line growth and physician alignment, increased hospital and engagement scores, and mentored CMOs across the system. Previous roles included CMO at a HealthOne/HCA and President and CMO of an integrated medical group at SCL Health in Colorado (now part of Intermountain Health).

A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Cobb’s academic contributions include a stint as Director, Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and publications in various industry journals. He’s also served on numerous boards, including the Colorado Association of Family Medicine Residencies, Primary Physician Partners, American Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, and the National Doula Certification Board.

One of his favorite adventures was a medical mission in Peru with his son, who is now a medical student at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
