Eric worked for over 30 years “in the chair” as a transformational leader of high performing teams in health care systems –– from a small, rural hospital to a 13-hospital system with 2500 clinically integrated physicians. As CEO of a 600–bed, 3-hospital system, Eric led a successful $30M strategic and operational turnaround with a clinically integrated network of over 400 community physicians. He shares his strategic insights nationally on the topics of alignment and clinical integration between hospitals and physicians and is a frequent speaker/panelist on the subject in the healthcare industry.
Today his work focuses on helping C-Suite healthcare executives and their teams to make the shift to the new world of value-based healthcare. It’s the most significant work of his career!
Eric earned his Bachelor in Business Management from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and a Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He is board certified as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Eric received his formal training in executive coaching at The Hudson Institute of Coaching in Santa Barbara, California. He holds the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) certification with the International Coach Federation. He is also a Certified Predictive Index Partner, specializing in workforce analytics that predict and enhance the performance of individuals and teams.
Eric counts his family as his most significant accomplishment. He and his wife, Nancy, who have been married for 42 years, have six children, ages 40 to 20, and seven grandchildren. They reside in San Diego, where they grow avocados for fun and profit!
